A case study was conducted comparing these two approaches over six months period for an emerging fashion brand. For three months they relied solely on organic growth strategies such as regular posting of quality content related to fashion trends and styles while interacting actively with their followers by responding promptly to comments and messages.
In contrast, during the next three months they initiated paid promotions alongside maintaining their organic strategy. They invested in sponsored posts targeting young adults interested in fashion within specific geographical locations.
The results were quite revealing; While organic growth resulted in consistent engagement rates with gradual increase in likes per post from 100-150 over three months period; Paid promotion led to immediate surge in both followers count as well as likes per post ranging from 500-700 during promotional periods.
However, it was also observed that once the paid campaign ended there was noticeable drop in engagement rate indicating less active involvement from new followers gained through paid promotions. Moreover, the cost involved in paid promotions was significantly higher compared to organic growth.
